Day 1: 250 Words

The first assignment for Blog Everyday in May in to tell your life story in 250 words or less, so here it goooes...

I was born on August 29, 1990 and have lived in Southern California all my life. When I was two, my parents got divorced and I spent every other weekend with my dad. When I was four, my dad got remarried and I gained a big sister, whose name is Kelly. In June of 1996, my little brother Daniel was born. I went to a total of eight different schools and moved just as many times.

Kelly and I, circa 1996. I'm the small one. My hair still looks like that in the morning. ;)

In high school, I was a busy kid and spent 10+ hours at school everyday. I was in FFA, was on varsity swim and water polo, and took several honors and advanced placement classes. When I graduated high school I attended college with intentions of majoring in Animal Science, but life took me another way and I became a nanny in 2009.

Now my major is now Child Development. I'm also working on classes to become a board certified Lactation Consultant. I've been with my boyfriend Joshua for over three years & I'm currently a nanny to eight-month-old L. I'm passionate about natural birth and parenting, babywearing, and cloth diapering.

I hope you'll link up with me. I'm going to have a blast doing this!
Get ready for day two. It's coming your way.

Blog Everyday In May!

I know, I know. I'm jumping on the band wagon a little late, but what else would you expect from me...
That's how I do things. :)

I was going through my Bloglovin' roll yesterday and saw that both Molly and Sarah would be blogging everyday in May. Since I've been trying to devote more time to my blog, and get on more of a schedule, I thought this would be a perfect way to do it. I also think it's an awesome way for you guys to be able to get to know me better!

Will you join me in blogging everyday in May?

My Trip to THE Joyful Abode.

Two weekends ago, I went to visit Emily and her two children, Anneliese and Joseph.
I knew her not only from her blog, but also from our interactions on Twitter, Instagram, and from our brief meeting at MommyCon Las Vegas when I bought a wrap from her.

My goal for the weekend was to let her take a nap, as her husband was deployed at the time, and caring for two toddlers alone with no break is exhausting. Although that didn't happen, she was able to accomplish "all the things" while I was there. Do you follow me on Instagram? I posted pictures of our weekend on there!

My time there was nothing short of amazing and the things I learned from Emily, although she wasn't intentionally teaching, were invaluable to both my present life as a nanny and my future life as a mother.

Her cooking was absolutely out of this world. Everything was absolutely amazing, but my two favorite things she made were Paleo Banana Nut Waffles (without the nuts) and Lemon Garlic Chicken with Green Beans & Potatoes. I don't normally like fresh green beans, but they were super yummy cooked this way. Since being home, I've already made the chicken dish once, and it will definitely be added to my rotation.

We had such a great time and now that her husband is home (Yaaay!), I'm sure she'll be getting plenty of rest and down time. She's so, so sweet and you need to go check out all her links. Mmkay? (: I promise you won't be disappointed, especially if you're crunchy like us!
